Tamara “Tammy” Craig, Corporate Controller and IT Manager for Accounting Systems of Southland Amusements and Vending, Inc. since 2006, manages the Accounting and Information Technology departments for this growing organization. Tammy is charged with ensuring total compliance of financial functions for 10 companies, including Southland Gaming of the Virgin Islands (SGVI). She currently directs the efforts of three Accountants—a team dedicated to achieving internal controls that meet the varied guidelines of multiple international regions.
With over two decades in the accounting field, Tammy is an expert in leading such areas as financial reporting and analysis of companywide activities, cash flow evaluation and projections, payroll, fixed asset management, and pro forma earnings administration. She continuously maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all areas. Through structuring and implementing efficient processes, Tammy ensures accuracy, consistency, and timely reporting systems.
With an extensive background in manufacturing, service, and management environments, she is quick to adapt to any venue. Her expert-level analysis allows for in-depth review of cross-departmental activities pertaining to finance and technology. From 2002 to 2006, Tammy served Peterson Auto, Inc. as Accounting Manager, as well as Partner in this car dealership and repair shop. She was responsible for managing all daily business activities. She held the titles of Accounting Manager and Financial Analyst from 2000 to 2002. As District Controller for Waste Management from 1998 to 2000, Tammy supervised a team of eight financial professionals. She launched her career as Controller for Smurfit Stone Recycling (subsidiary of Jefferson Smurfit Corporation), gaining solid knowledge of business operations, accounting, and financial management/controls.
Tammy completed a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Accounting at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She also pursued Master of Business Administration coursework in Finance from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. Tammy continues to hone her skills in her field by completing programs at the Institute of Management Accounting in 2002 and 2006. As a committed mother of two adult children, she truly enjoys her role as a grandmother. Her other interests include gardening, scrapbooking, camping, and kayaking with her children.
